HOW IT ALL BEGAN...
In 2002 we visited my cousin Paul Gerhard K. in South Africa. Through this we became inspired to search for the roots of the Kauffenstein family.
We spend a very nice vacation with my sister and her husband.
At this point, we were simply too busy with other things, so we did not have the opportunity to start researching. And time went by.
Four more years had to pass by until we really got started.
In between we visited South Africa a second time and which again sparked our interest.
Then, two years later, we finally got started.
WEIßDORF
We made a stop in Weißdorf, where some Kauffensteins are living. The picture shows the blacksmith’s shop in which they work and live.
It was a spontaneous visit. Though we did not announce our arrival in advance we were welcomed very heartily. The second picture shows Elsa K. and me.
The other one shows the deceased Karl K. . Blacksmith of this blacksmith’s shop.
By now, there is an annual reunion with the remaining Kauffensteins.
Elsa and Karl have two grandchildren: Max and Moritz.
The last pictures show Elsa’s and Karls son Helmut and his companion in life.
We learned much about the family’s history.
Seven generations ago, we had the same father
